A small triumph of Liberty Style
Following the inspiration and drawing the Villino delle Palme in Trapani during the #italiagrandsketchingtour.
This drawing is the typical example of what it means to be an artist. I saw this small Villa and I loved it, it just inspired me and even if I couldn’t find much about it and its history I decided to include it in my works. Maybe it is just because I love Liberty Style, I find it beautiful and refreshing and full of energy.
Anyway there is a second part to the story. After the inspiration comes the hard work. I say this because the day that I went to draw the Villa was probably the coldest and windiest day of my permanence in Trapani. I decided to do it anyway and therefore I’m even more attached to this drawing, because it represents the commitment and the motivation that takes to achieve ones goals.
Anyway, what I did manage to find about this building is that it was built in 1922, destroyed during the war and rebuilt in 1947. The palm that you see was there before the Villa and therefore it was incorporated in the construction. On the other side of the garden there is a stage on which performed many artists of cabaret. Until few years ago the Villa was used in summer for evening shows but it seems that now it is sort of abandoned.
