The Cathedral of S. Maria Maggiore in Spilimbergo painted during the #ItaliaGrandSketchingTour
I stopped in Spilimbergo, and I remained surprised by the beauty of this small city. It seems that in Friuli every place is nice and full of history and the atmosphere is just so relaxing. I walked around the center and decided to draw this particular of the Cathedral. I sat on some stairs almost at sunset and I had the teenagers doing tricks with bikes and playing music all around me. It was quite and fun at the same time.
I realized how much people are the same everywhere and that all the differences are constructs of the place we live in, it is not us. Searching for identity should be the main scope of our life and it should be facilitated instead of ostracized.
I like this drawing because it is one of those times in which the painting became meditation. It doesn’t happen all the time. I realize it depends on the pressure I put on myself. And when I love myself and accept that whatever will be will be, magically my paintings get better. I suppose it should be something to remember.
