From war a symbol to foster peace in the new generations
The Bell of Peace in Rovereto painted during the #italiagrandsketchingtour.
On Miravalle Hill in Rovereto there is a place that is absolutely worth a visit. After spending the morning in the city, I climbed the hill to visit Maria Dolens, the bell of peace that was built in memory of the fallen soldiers of the wars.Â
In 1924 the priest Antonio Rossaro decided to create a bell from the bronze of the cannons of the 19 countries fighting in the First World War in memory of the soldiers of all wars and to foster peace.
After being exposed in the Rovereto castle, in 1965 the bell was restored and moved to the hill where a complex of museums and an auditorium was created and every year events are organized for peace with people from all over the world. Also every evening the bell sounds 100 times to remind the whole valley the importance of the past to build a better future.
