A stop and a visit in Piazza Gramsci
Church of Sant’Ambrogio in Cinisello Balsamo painted during the #italiagrandsketchingtour.
Leaving Bellagio I headed to Monza, where I visited the park and part of the castle but rain was coming and there were no available hotels in town. The nearest one was in Cinisello Balsamo, few kilometers. The initial idea was to sleep there and visit Monza the next day, but destiny guided me in a different direction.
I choose the hotel based on an intuition, it was called the WoodHouse Hotel, a place mostly handmade with all decorations in wood. The place is ran and mostly designed by Rebecca. After showing me the place I asked couple of info about the place and I ended up talking the whole afternoon with her and having dinner together, arranging random things from each other’s fridge. Amazing what kind of incredible connections you can create in such a short time once you are open to communicate and be open and authentic.
Also Rebecca told me about Cinisello and the places to see, and that is why I decided to spend the day there instead of Monza. I went first to have coffee in the main square of the city, called Gramsci Square. The square has always been the meeting place of the town, and this was the aim of the architectural design that in 1999 was renewed following the project by Dominique Perrault.
Trees and benches: a perfect place for meeting after the Sunday mess at the Baroque Church of Sant’Ambrogio. And of course, a great place to paint in a sunny Monday.
