Filippo Bentivegna House Museum
Near the city of Sciacca there is this museum that can be considered a castle without walls, created from the house of the sculptor Filippo Bentivegna. It is an incredible view!
The garden climbs on a hill creating a labyrinth of heads, sculptured by Bentivegna in over 50 years. Many considered him crazy but I believe that it was passion that guided him, a crazy passion that lead him to bring his vision into the world. I believe that passion is what moves the world and brings beauty to it. And this is a perfect example.
Filippo Bentivegna, born from a fisherman family, emigrated to the States as a teenager. His life there was hard but allowed him to save enough money so that when he came back he bought this terrain where he lived for fifty years following his passion.Â
Now we are able to experience this surreal and magical open-air museum. A walk between primitive carved faces and heads in stones, a walk in our past as humans and in our soul, to touch the deepest of our desires. Or just a fun and different experience for children and adults.
Definitely a must go place if you visit Sciacca and I was very happy to have been here during the #italiagrandsketchingtour!
